College Park City Hall

As the Geotechnical Engineer of Record, D.W. Kozera, Inc. (DWK) worked with Design Collective to provide subsurface investigation and recommendations for foundation and support of excavation design for the City Hall Development in College Park, Maryland. The project features space for City Hall, offices for the University of Maryland, and ground level retail.

The subsurface conditions consisted of Man-placed Fill underlain by natural Coastal Plain soils. DWK provided value to the project by recommending a ground improvement system consisting of Rammed Aggregate Piers designed to reinforce the existing Fill soil in lieu of more expensive options such as undercut and replace, or deep foundations.
