Our earthwork testing and observation services cover a full range of field procedures to support safe and reliable site development. We observe proofrolling operations using loaded trucks (or other equipment) to evaluate subgrade support conditions, identifying soft or unstable areas and recommending stabilization as needed. In-place density and moisture content testing is performed using calibrated nuclear gauges to confirm that each lift of soil meets compaction requirements before additional layers are placed. Our technicians also document moisture conditioning and dry-back to maintain optimal moisture ranges for compaction and long-term performance. Lift thickness is tracked to support uniform soil behavior and reduce the risk of under-compaction or settlement.
During utility trench backfilling, we document that bedding and backfill layers are placed and compacted to meet project specifications, particularly around sensitive utility lines.
Prior to slab or pavement placement, our team reviews subgrade conditions to confirm that the surface is compacted and uniform. In cases where unsuitable soils are encountered, we provide oversight during over-excavation and backfilling, recording the materials used and testing compaction.
