Malone Hall, located on the Homewood campus of Johns Hopkins University, is a 4-story, 77,300-square-foot building designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers and students. The structure, which includes a basement level, was constructed using a spread footing foundation and post-tensioned elevated slabs.

D.W. Kozera, Inc. (DWK) conducted a comprehensive geotechnical investigation and provided construction observation and testing services for the project.

This included providing earthwork, foundation, and support of excavation procedures. Continuous construction monitoring by the Geotechnical Engineer of Record, DWK, helped the project schedule stay on track as adjustments based on field conditions were made in near “real-time.”

The collaboration between Johns Hopkins University and DWK exemplified a seamless integration of academic vision and engineering precision, resulting in a facility designed to advance research while standing on solid ground.
